BELL, Calif. Apr. 10 (KNN) — The Bell Police Department along with assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a fatal crash in the city of Bell overnight as a possible homicide after observing evidence of a shooting.
According to the preliminary investigation thus far, investigators have learned that the victim was traveling in his vehicle westbound around 1:55 a.m. Wednesday on the 4700 block of Florence Avenue in the city of Bell when he collided with a pole at Vinevale Avenue.
Bell PD officers in the area heard the collision and responded to the location where the crashed vehicle was already engulfed in flames. Officers removed the victim from the vehicle and began lifesaving efforts, reported the LASD. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
Bell PD officers and detectives at the scene to investigate the fatal crash, observed bullet holes in the victim’s vehicle. Upon further investigation, they also noticed that the victim appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound to his torso, according to the LASD.
The investigation is ongoing. There is currently no additional information.
