DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, Apr. 12 (KNN) — A large burning pile of trash in Downtown Los Angeles appeared to be a structure fire as it blanketed the sky with billowing black smoke.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire shortly after 2 a.m. Friday in the 2000 block of East Washington Boulevard. Smoke from the fire was seen from miles away in all directions.
When crews arrived on scene, they located a large amount of trash on fire along the railroad tracks next to a building, which was not damaged by the fire.
Firefighters extinguished the fames in just a few minutes.
The cause is unknown at this time.
