CAMARILLO, Calif., Apr. 14 (KNN) — A driver traveling the wrong way on the 101 Freeway in the city of Camarillo early Sunday morning caused an injury traffic collision involving a total of 11 vehicles.
California Highway Patrol’s Ventura patrol units responded to reports of a wrong-way driver traveling southbound in northbound lanes of the 101 Freeway on the Conejo Grade shortly after midnight.
At some point, the wrong-way vehicle collided with another vehicle causing a chain reaction crash involving nine other vehicles.
Two victims were trapped inside a vehicle and required extrication by the Ventura County Fire Department.
Both of those victims were transported to the hospital in unknown conditions.
In total, there were 11 vehicles involved with a total of 17 occupants – six with minor injuries, and two in critical condition.
