VERMONT SQUARE, LOS ANGELES, Apr. 19 (KNN) — A pursuit ended in a crash into a pole that resulted in a power outage and two people taken into custody in the Vermont Square neighborhood of South Los Angeles late Thursday night.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Division patrol units were in pursuit of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision when it collided with a power pole shortly after 11 p.m. in the 4900 block of South Vermont Avenue, according to the LAPD.
The impact of the crash severed several power lines causing an outage spanning several blocks in the area.
Officer Chavez, spokesperson for the LAPD, said the driver was taken into custody for felony evading, and there was a warrant for the passenger.
They were both transported to a local hospital in unknown conditions.
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power arrived at the scene to assess the damage to the power lines.
