Vehicle Fire Spreads to Nearby Brush on 5 Freeway in Sylmar

SYLMAR, LOS ANGELES, Apr. 19 (KNN) — A vehicle erupted into flames Thursday night that spread to nearby brush on the 5 Freeway.

The Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire shortly before 9:30 p.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway, just north of Roxford in the area of Sylmar.

Arriving firefighters found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames extending into nearby hillside brush. The fire was knocked down within minutes.

Traffic was stopped while crews extinguished the flames. Two lanes remained closed until the LAFD cleared the scene.
