Canyon Country, Los Angeles County, CA: A leak in the water main caused water service disruption to La Mesa Junior High School in the 26600 block of May Way in the Canyon Country neighborhood of the city of Santa Clarita, prompting an early dismissal notice to parents from Chief Administrative Officer Collyn Nielsen with the Hart District on behalf of Principal Michele Krantz.

The water main leak caused the water service to be turned off to the school around 1:20 p.m. on Monday, Apr. 18, which meant the unavailability of bathroom services. The school asked students to report to their afternoon classes and for parents to come to the school to pick up their student early, text approval to their student for early release to walk home, or call the school to indicate approval to release student to walk home.

The school staff contacted parents of students who utilize city buses that were not able to pick up from the school any earlier than the usual time after 3:10 p.m.

The school was deeply apologetic for any inconvenience this incident may have caused.
