DUARTE, Calif., Apr. 29 (KNN) — A pursued carjacking suspect crashed on the 210 Freeway and attempted to carjack multiple other vehicles before being taken into custody by authorities in the early morning hours of Sunday.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputies with assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Airship and California Highway Patrol, tracked an armed carjacking suspect out of San Bernardino County, westbound on the 210 Freeway at Irwindale Avenue in the city of Irwindale.
The suspect was traveling at high-speed in a Nissan Maxima when it crashed into multiple vehicles, including a semi on the westbound 210 Freeway just past the 605 Freeway in the area of the city of Duarte.
The suspect attempted to carjack multiple other vehicles on the westbound 210 Freeway when traffic was slowing down due to the crash. The suspect jumped over a fence onto the south side of the 210 where he was taken into custody by CHP and the LASD.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene but there were no reported injuries.
It is not known at this time where the carjacking specifically occurred in the San Bernardino area.
