GRANADA HILLS, LOS ANGELES, May 1 (KNN) — A 19-year-old male occupant of a vehicle was fatally struck by gunfire in Granada Hills overnight and was pronounced deceased at a hospital upon arrival.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a crime report at 12:57 a.m. Wednesday, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon initially at the intersection of Rinaldi Street and Reseda Boulevard, according Officer Im, spokesperson for the LAPD.
A vehicle was located by LAPD officers at Rinaldi Street and Shoshone Avenue, further east of the original location, where a victim was found down next to a white sedan. KTLA reported that a gunman pursued the vehicle through the Granada Hills neighborhood.
Three occupants were inside the vehicle at the time of the reported shooting. Two of them attempted CPR on the gunshot victim.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location and transported the victim with CPR in progress to a local area hospital where the victim succumbed to his injury.
A bullet hole was observed in the passenger side door of the vehicle. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown at this time.
An LAPD homicide investigation is underway.
