Firefighters were dispatched at 10:38 a.m. to a location in the 8700 block of North Lindley Avenue where arriving firefighters discovered two deceased persons inside a “human-dug cave/excavation,” according to LAFD spokesperson Nicholas Prange.

A small amount of white powdery substance was initially observed inside the cave, but wind in the area dissipated the powder, reported the LAFD.

The LAFD Hazardous Materials specialists scanned the area and found all readings normal. Prange told KNN that a trace of fentanyl was detected at the location.

According to Prange, the cave was dug horizontally near train tracks south of the intersection of Parthenia and Lindley Avenue. It appears the individuals dug themselves a shelter.

Urban Search and Rescue specialists responded to assist with the body recovery.

There are no further details at this time.
