Suspected Arsonist in Custody After Allegedly Setting Fires Around LAFD Station 65

WATTS, LOS ANGELES, May 14 (KNN) — A suspected arsonist was taken into custody overnight for allegedly setting small fires and vandalizing a Los Angeles Fire Department station in the Watts neighborhood within South Los Angeles.

At approximately 2:20 a.m., LAFD Firefighters from Station 65 requested the Los Angeles Police Department to respond for a suspect vandalizing and starting numerous small fires around the station.

The suspect fled on foot and was described as holding a knife in his right hand.

LAPD’s Southeast Division patrol units responded to the area and located the suspect walking south on Grandee Avenue at Century Boulevard.

The suspect was taken into custody by LAPD officers without further incident.

LAFD Arson was requested to the station for further investigation.
