Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Bakersfield Traffic Collision

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., May 19 (KNN) — A male pedestrian was struck and killed in a traffic collision in the city of Bakersfield late Saturday evening.

The vehicle versus pedestrian collision occurred at approximately 8:43 p.m. in the 10000 block of Hageman Road, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Responding Bakersfield police officers located an adult male pedestrian down in the roadway suffering from major injuries. Emergency medical personnel arrived and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene.

The BPD’s preliminary investigation revealed that an adult female driver of a Toyota Highlander was traveling east in the 10000 of Hageman Road when she collided with the pedestrian who was in the roadway.

The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to the BPD. Speed, drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the collision.

The 10000 block of Hageman Road is an east/west roadway with two lanes for eastbound travel and three lanes for westbound travel. The speed limit is 45 miles-per-hour, stated the BPD in a press release of the incident.

The name of the deceased has not yet been released. This is an ongoing investigation.
