5 Wounded in San Fernando Shooting, Suspect in Custody

SAN FERNANDO, Calif., May 26 (KNN) — Five people were shot at a residence in the city of San Fernando late Saturday night.

The San Fernando Police Department was assisted by the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Burbank PD and Los Angeles Fire Department personnel in responding to a shooting call of multiple victims around 11:20 p.m. in the 900 block of Orange Grove Avenue.

Upon arrival, police found four people suffering gunshot wounds at the residential address. The fifth victim was located at a hospital. That victim self-transported to the hospital while the others were transported by LAFD paramedics.

The suspect barricaded himself inside a home after the shooting. During the incident, it was reported that the suspect had shot at an LAPD Air Unit that was flying overhead.

The suspect was removed from the home by police officers after a brief barricade. The condition of the victims and the cause of the shooting is currently under investigation.

Residents in nearby homes were told to evacuate.

The suspect was booked on seven charges of attempted murder, one count of criminal threats, one charge of shooting at an inhabited dwelling and one charge of shooting at an aircraft, reported ABC7 News. He is being held on $9.8 million bail.

The relationship between the suspect and the victims remains unclear at this time.
