Hyde Park Shooting Leaves Man Dead; Suspect in Custody

LOS ANGELES, May 29 (KNN) — A shooting left one man dead Tuesday night in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Fire Department Engine 94 reported that as they were pulling up to a rubbish fire in the area of 63rd Street and Crenshaw Boulevard shortly after 9:30 p.m., there was a shooting that caused people to run toward the fire engine. A nearby motel appeared to be the location of the incident.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the 6300 block of Crenshaw Boulevard for the shooting with ambulance requested.

Arriving officers located a Black male victim in his mid to late 30s, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim had entered the suspect’s apartment and an altercation ensued, according to LAPD spokesperson Officer Cervantes.

During the altercation, the suspect shot the victim with a handgun, according to Cervantes. The 22-year-old Black male suspect remained at the scene and was taken into custody without incident.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

According to the LAPD, this incident is gang related.
