Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle Dies at Hospital

Lancaster, Los Angeles County, CA: A woman who was in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night was pronounced deceased just before midnight at the hospital, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lancaster Station Watch Commander.

Deputies from the LASD Lancaster Station responded to a 911 call regarding a vehicle vs pedestrian collision that occurred on Avenue L between 5th and 6th Street East in the city of Lancaster at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Apr. 20, 2022.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a woman lying unconscious on the ground, hit by a vehicle. Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and started to administer CPR.

The pedestrian was transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center in critical condition where she later succumbed to injuries from the collision. Lancaster Deputies secured the location with yellow tape at around 11:55 p.m. to process the scene.

The Watch Commander said the woman, who was 57 years old, was crossing the street in the dark when the collision occurred. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and did not see the crossing pedestrian.

This is not a DUI, and it is not a hit-and-run collision, the Watch Commander stated.
