Mountain Lion Killed on 101 Freeway Near Wildlife Crossing in Agoura Hills

AGOURA HILLS, Calif., June 15 (KNN) — A mountain lion was struck and killed on the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills early Saturday morning.

California Highway Patrol West Valley units responded to reports of a deceased mountain lion around 4:47 a.m. in the number three lane of the southbound 101 Freeway, just west of Liberty Canyon Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located the deceased mountain lion less than half a mile from the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing construction site.

Officers moved the mountain lion to the right shoulder away from traffic and awaited the arrival of personnel from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The mountain lion was not equipped with a tracking collar.
