Homicide Investigation Underway Into Shooting Death in Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA, Calif., June 18 (KNN) — Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide investigators responded to the 22900 block of Lyons Avenue in Santa Clarita’s Newhall neighborhood shortly after 7:30 p.m. Monday for a shooting death investigation.

A body was found lying in front of a liquor store at the location. Residents in the area who declined a statement on camera, mentioned they heard about 10 to 12 rapid shots maybe coming from an automatic handgun and the victim was struck multiple times.

There was a reported shooting on Walnut Street around 30 minutes after the victim on Lyons Avenue was found fatally shot, according to sources. There were no reported injuries at the Walnut location. It is unclear at this time if the two shootings are related.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
