MISSION HILLS, LOS ANGELES, June 20 (KNN) — One person was trapped inside a vehicle after it flew off the 5 Freeway early Thursday morning and landed onto a surface street below.
California Highway Patrol officers, Los Angeles police officers and Los Angeles City Fire Department personnel all responded to a reported traffic collision around 3:30 a.m. at the intersections of Laurel Canyon and Brand in Mission Hills.
Upon arrival, a trapped person was found inside a wrecked vehicle at the scene. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the occupant from the vehicle that had landed onto the street from the 5 Freeway above.
The patient was transported with unknown injuries to a local hospital by LAFD paramedics.
The cause of the crash is not known at this time.
