Officers with Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Division and Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the intersection of West Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and Halldale Avenue for reports of a hit-and-run collision shortly before midnight.

Upon arrival, officers and firefighters located an infant injured in a collision with a vehicle. The infant was immediately transported to a local hospital in reportedly critical condition.

Officer Lee, spokesperson for the LAPD, said the infant is currently in stable condition and confirmed the incident was not a hit-and-run collision as initially reported. The vehicle involved remained at the scene.

Lee told KNN that the infant is between 1-2 years old. It is unclear at this time how the victim ended up in the roadway.
