Man With Hammer Barricades Inside Apartment Building in Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES, July 25 (KNN) — A man armed with a hammer was barricaded inside an apartment building in Hollywood overnight, and ultimately taken into custody.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call of a man with a hammer around 2 a.m. in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Bronson.

By the time LAPD officers arrived at the location, the subject was already barricaded inside an apartment within a building in the 5800 block of Sunset Boulevard, according to a spokesperson for the LAPD.

Officers were seen entering the building and residents were evacuated from the second floor as a precaution.

After a few hours of barricading, the subject was taken into custody. The evacuated residents were allowed back inside their apartments.

No one was reported injured during the incident.

A description of the man was unavailable from the LAPD, and the reason why he barricaded was unknown.
