Reseda Vehicle Fire Spreads to Carport, Single Family Dwelling; 1 Person Injured

RESEDA, LOS ANGELES, Aug. 5 (KNN) — A late Sunday night vehicle fire spread to a carport, then to a nearby single family dwelling leaving one person injured.

The fire was reported at 11:35 p.m., near a home in the 17800 block of Vanowen Street in Reseda. Arriving firefighters found a vehicle engulfed in flames spreading quicky to the surrounding carport.

The fire was upgraded to a structure fire due to flames from the carport exposing a single family dwelling. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department at the scene, the dwelling was an ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit).

The flames were extinguished within 10 minutes. One person was transported to a local hospital, according to a spokesperson for the LAFD. There were no further details.

The cause of the fire is unknown and currently under investigation.
