VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES, Oct. 17 (KNN) — At approximately 1:15 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a reported home invasion in the 13500 block of Heart Street, where a homeowner successfully subdued a suspect who had been squatting in his Van Nuys residence.
Upon arrival, officers found the suspect pinned down by the homeowner, who reported that the individual had entered his home multiple times before. The homeowner stated that he had previously contacted law enforcement regarding this person.
During the confrontation, the suspect sustained injuries to his face, allegedly as a result of a physical altercation with the homeowner. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment before being placed under arrest.
Mike, the homeowner, spoke to KNN on camera and stated that he noticed a light was on upstairs in the area of his home under renovation. When he investigated, a door was found locked to a room. When Mike tried to open it, he claimed the man attacked him. Mike said he didn’t know the man but had found him in his home before.
The man had said something about being at an Airbnb, according to Mike.
The LAPD Van Nuys Division is currently investigating the incident.
