BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES, Oct. 23 (KNN) — A large water main break in Boyle Heights overnight flooded an intersection and ultimately shut down the 101 Freeway.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of flooding at the intersection of 4th Street and Boyle Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday. Arriving crews located a large water main break at the intersection. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was requested to respond to the location.
By 2 a.m., the flowing water impacted the 101 Freeway, prompting the California Highway Patrol to shut down both sides and divert traffic off at Fourth Street due to the flooded roadway.
At the time of this report, it was unclear when lanes would reopen.
