SUN VALLEY, LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19 (KNN) — Firefighters worked to extinguish an early morning blaze at an encampment under a freeway off-ramp in the Sun Valley area of the San Fernando Valley.
Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded to a homeless encampment fire shortly after 1:30 a.m. under the 170 Freeway at the Sheldon Street off-ramp.
Crews extinguished the bulk of the fire by 2:05 a.m. and requested the water tender to ensure all embers were extinguished.
The California Highway Patrol had shut down all northbound lanes while crews worked to mop up the fire. Engine 89 requested Caltrans to inspect the freeway overpass and check for damage.
There was no estimated time for the arrival of Caltrans at the time of this report.
