Bomb Threat Closes 118 Freeway in Chatsworth

CHATSWORTH, LOS ANGELES, Nov. 21 (KNN) — A reported bomb on the 118 Freeway at Desoto Avenue prompted a large response from the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles Police Department Bomb Squad.

According to initial information regarding the incident, an object described as a pipe was on the freeway. It was unclear what made officials believe it was a possible bomb.

The LAPD Bomb Squad utilized their robot to either disable the device or determine it was not a threat.

CHP had all eastbound lanes of the 118 Freeway closed for roughly 30 minutes while LAPD worked on the device.

The incident unfolded sometime before noon and was deemed safe at approximately 1:30 p.m. It is unclear if the Sierra Canyon High School campus adjacent to the freeway was placed on lockdown.

No injuries were reported.
