EAST LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10 (KNN) — A male armed with a gun was fatally wounded in a shooting involving the sheriff’s department early Tuesday morning.
At approximately 12:44 a.m., East Los Angeles Station deputies responded to a call regarding a male armed with a gun at the 7-Eleven convenience store in the 6500 block of Olympic Boulevard in unincorporated East Los Angeles.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, as soon as the deputies arrived, they located the male in front of the location, who produced a handgun, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.
Deputy personnel provided medical aid to the male pending the arrival of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased, the LASD reported.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide investigators responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deputy-involved shooting incident.
A handgun was recovered at the scene, according to the LASD. No deputies were injured.
