Tesla Catches Fire After Crashing Into Tree in Sherman Oaks

SHERMAN OAKS, LOS ANGELES, Dec. 12 (KNN) — Firefighters extinguished the flames consuming a Tesla involved in a collision late Wednesday evening.

The traffic collision occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. in the 14600 block of Moorpark Avenue in Sherman Oaks, prompting a response from the Los Angeles Fire Department and officers with the Los Angeles Police Department Van Nuys Division.

Upon arrival, a Tesla was found, which had collided head-on with a tree and subsequently caught fire.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames. However, an LAFD Hazmat response was requested due to the potential hazard of the damaged lithium-ion batteries at the scene.

The cause of the crash and the condition of the driver are unknown at this time.
