Los Angeles Police Department officers engaged in a foot pursuit of an armed suspect shortly after midnight after the LAPD received calls of an attempted apartment break-in on the 1200 block of El Dorado Avenue, according to a spokesperson for the LAPD. Another call related to the same suspect came from victims in a Dodge Charger who claimed to be followed by a driver in a gold-colored Toyota Camry.

One of the victims in the Charger told Key News Network off-camera that they were driving down the street in the area of Hubbard Avenue and San Fernando Road when someone drove up and started shooting.

LAPD contained the area with a significant police presence, including a K-9 Unit, as they searched for the suspect. The LAPD spokesperson told KNN that an unintentional discharge of the suspect’s gun occurred during a foot pursuit, and he stressed that the suspect did not shoot at officers.

The suspect, described as a male Hispanic wearing a hoodie armed with a gun, was ultimately taken into custody, according to the LAPD.
