MID CITY, LOS ANGELES, Dec. 20 (KNN) — A reported shooting victim was found unresponsive in the Mid City neighborhood of Los Angeles late Thursday evening, ultimately prompting a Los Angeles Police Department homicide investigation.
The LAPD and Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the reported victim in the 4500 block of West 23rd Street, where a male between 30 and 35 years old was found down on a sidewalk unconscious and not breathing.
First-arriving officers started chest compressions on the victim. However, the man was declared deceased by LAFD paramedics.
Officers marked off the area with crime scene tape and erected a privacy tent to cover the decedent as they began their investigation.
Officer Madison, a spokesperson for the LAPD, told KNN that no suspect information was available and that it was not known if the incident was gang-related. However, the LAPD Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation.
