Wind-Driven Brush Fire Consumes Homes in Pacific Palisades: Evacuations Underway

PACIFIC PALISADES, LOS ANGELES, Jan. 7 (KNN) — On Tuesday afternoon, a fast-moving brush fire burned at least 1200 acres of land and several homes in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles.

The fire was first reported at around 10:30 a.m. near Palisades Drive and Calle Victoria, and has continued burning throughout the day.

Firefighters from several Southern California agencies have responded to the area, all working in unified command to contain the fire during a challenging windstorm weather event.

At 3:30 p.m., the fire was at 1,261 acres, with evacuation orders in place. Per CHP West Valley, the following road closures are in place: Southbound Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) at Las Flores Canyon Road, southbound PCH at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Coastline Drive and southbound PCH.

More than 100 vehicles are reported abandoned, making Sunset Boulevard impassable.

Winds are due to increase late afternoon and into the night.
