WESTLAKE, LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22 (KNN) — The Los Angeles Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that left six people injured in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 1:20 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division officers responded to reports of a shooting with multiple victims at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street.
Upon arrival, officers located five victims suffering from gunshot wounds, according to initial reports. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the patients to a local hospital. Their conditions were not initially known.
A spokesperson for the LAPD told KNN later in the morning that there were a total of six victims – five adult males and one adult female. Three of the victims are in stable condition, and three are in critical condition.
An unidentified witness spoke to KNN on camera and said two of his friends were shot – one in the head and one in the foot. He was grateful they were ok after witnessing the shooting by suspects who jumped out of cars.
An investigation is underway, and the shooting has been determined to be gang-related, according to the LAPD. There was no suspect description.
