Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Compton Traffic Collision

COMPTON, Calif., Jan. 24 (KNN) — A driver remained at the scene of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian who was fatally injured in the city of Compton overnight.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Compton deputies and Los Angeles County firefighters responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision at the intersection of West Rosecrans Avenue and South Aprilia Avenue at approximately 12:42 a.m. Friday.

When first responders arrived, they located a gray Volkswagen sedan that had struck a pedestrian at the intersection. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.

The California Highway Patrol South Los Angeles Area office is handling the investigation.
