Bakersfield, Kern County, CA: A pedestrian was struck by a green Honda Civic on Taft Highway about a quarter mile west of the 99 Freeway around 11:00 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 30, 2022.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A field sobriety test was administered to the driver who was not taken into custody.

California Highway Patrol and Bakersfield Police Department responded to the incident. BPD is handling the investigation.
