SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Mar. 11 (KNN) — The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place in the 400 block of West 58th Street near Figueroa in the Vermont-Slauson neighborhood within South Los Angeles, according to authorities.

The LAPD received a call at 8 p.m. Monday for a shooting at the location, according to an LAPD spokesperson. An ambulance was requested to respond to the scene.
The spokesperson told Key News Network that a 47-year-old male was found at the scene with a gunshot wound. He was transported by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital in critical condition.
While the spokesperson could not confirm where exactly the victim was found, KNN video from the scene shows multiple evidence markers on a sidewalk in an apparent residential neighborhood.
Detectives arrived at the scene around 10:30 p.m. for the investigation.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown at this time. It is also not known if the shooting is gang-related, said the spokesperson.
