POMONA, Calif., Mar. 11 (KNN) — The Pomona Police Department has announced the identity of the suspect charged with murder of a man found shot in front of the Family Dollar Store on Indian Hill Boulevard.

At approximately 7:40 p.m., Tuesday, Mar. 4, 2025, Pomona Police Department officers responded to a man down in the 1600 block of Indian Hill Boulevard in the city of Pomona.
According to the Pomona PD, Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel and Pomona police officers arrived to find the victim, who has now been identified by detectives as 31-year-old James Bunch of Pomona, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Bunch was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) investigators responded to the scene. During the investigation, MCU investigators identified 30-year-old Jose Oquendo, Jr. as the one who was involved in the murder of Bunch, according to a recent Pomona PD press release regarding the incident.
Oquendo was arrested and booked at the Pomona City Jail. On Monday, Mar. 10, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed the following charges: murder, and felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held on $3,050,000 bail.
