SIMI VALLEY, Calif., Mar. 18 (KNN) — California Highway Patrol officers with the Moorpark Area office responded to reports of a deceased animal on the eastbound 118 Freeway between Stearns Street and Yosemite Avenue in Simi Valley around 7 a.m. Monday.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased mountain lion on the right shoulder of the freeway.
The vehicle that struck the mountain lion did not remain at the scene, and the animal did not appear to have a tracking collar.
CHP requested Caltrans to respond and collect the deceased animal.
