DIAMOND BAR, Calif., Mar.18 (KNN) — The California Highway Patrol from the Baldwin Park Area office received multiple 911 calls regarding a wrong-way driver traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the 60 Freeway near the 57 Freeway interchange in Diamond Bar.

A CHP sergeant from the Baldwin Park Area office was traveling eastbound on the 60 Freeway around 2:20 a.m. Monday when he spotted a white Dodge Charger stopped in the westbound lanes, facing the wrong direction. The sergeant quickly maneuvered to turn around and stop traffic, preventing multiple vehicles from potentially striking the wrong-way driver.
The driver managed to turn around and exit the freeway, where the CHP subsequently took them into custody for a suspected DUI.
The sergeant’s actions helped avert what could have been a tragic situation, likely saving multiple lives on the 60 Freeway.
