Police Find Gun in Vehicle After Hit-and-Run Crash in South Los Angeles

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif., Mar. 25 (KNN) — Los Angeles Police Department officers located a gun inside a vehicle at the scene of a hit-and-run collision late Monday night in the South Los Angeles neighborhood of Vermont-Slauson, according to authorities.

LAPD units from the 77th Division responded to initial reports of a rollover crash with a shooting victim in the 800 block of West 54th Street. Upon arrival, officers located several wrecked vehicles but did not find a shooting victim.

After the collision, a crowd gathered on the sidewalk and in the street to observe the aftermath. Some of the damaged vehicles’ owners also appeared to be at the scene.

According to an LAPD spokesperson, there was a crash and a fight, and then the driver of a vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene, leaving the car behind.

Officers found a gun inside a vehicle, which the LAPD impounded. The spokesperson told Key News Network there was no shooting and no arrests.

According to information at the scene, Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics evaluated an individual from another vehicle involved in the incident.
