OXNARD, Calif., Mar. 26 (KNN) — Oxnard City fire and police departments responded to a call regarding a Metrolink train collision with a semi-truck at the East Fifth Street and Rice Avenue intersection at approximately 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found the semi-truck heavily damaged at the railroad crossing. A food stand located adjacent to the crossing also sustained damage.
According to PIO Stephen McNaughten, City of Oxnard Fire Marshal, one food vendor in critical condition was immediately transported to a local hospital, and the other was assessed at the scene.
McNaughten also said that 13 people were on the train; one was transported to a hospital, and three others were assessed and released at the scene.
Reportedly, at least two patients requested to go to the hospital as well.
According to McNaughten, there were no injuries to firefighters, and there were no fluid leaks or hazards.
A man observed sitting curbside near a backpack as seen in the KNN video from the scene, may possibly be the driver of the semi. However, that is unconfirmed at this time.
