PASADENA, Calif., Mar. 28 (KNN) — The Pasadena Police Department is investigating a fatality that occurred around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday in a quiet Pasadena residential neighborhood.

According to the Pasadena Police Department, officers responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash in the 700 block of East Rio Grande Street.
Arriving officers found a vehicle that had crashed along the north curbline. Inside the car, officers discovered an unresponsive male who had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso, reported the Pasadena PD.
Officers initially attempted lifesaving measures, followed by paramedics from the Pasadena Fire Department. However, the male did not survive and was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Pasadena PD.
The incident prompted an immediate investigation that included detectives from the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit (RHU) and an investigator from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
The PPD said the victim is a 19-year-old from El Monte. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Eddie, a nearby resident, spoke with Key News Network and said the neighborhood is pretty quiet and calm. As far as someone being murdered here, it’s rare, he said, adding that his gardener heard what he thought were fireworks.
