Allegedly Stolen Sheared Hydrant in Industry Found on Freeway in Roland Heights

INDUSTRY, Calif., Apr. 3 (KNN) — California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers from the Santa Fe Springs Area office and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) from the Industry Station responded to reports of a fire hydrant spewing water about 50 to 100 feet into the air at Gale Avenue and Stoner Creek Road.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel, along with Public Works crews, successfully shut off the hydrant shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Prior to this, CHP officers from Santa Fe Springs and Baldwin Park received multiple 911 calls about a fire hydrant in the number one and two lanes of the eastbound 60 Freeway at Fairway Drive in the city of Roland Heights.

According to reports, the suspects who allegedly stole the hydrant dropped it on the freeway. The description of the vehicle and suspects remains unknown.

CHP and Industry deputies will be investigating the incident.
