EARLIMART, TULARE COUNTY, Calif., Jan. 31, 2026 (KNN) – California Highway Patrol officers and the Tulare County Fire Department responded to calls around 8:17 a.m. Saturday regarding a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 99 near Avenue 24 in the unincorporated community of Earlimart.

Upon arrival, they found two separate vehicle pileups — one in the northbound lanes and another in the southbound lanes — both in the same area with heavy fog.
According to the CHP, 10 patients were transported to medical facilities with minor to moderate injuries, and 59 vehicles were involved in the incidents.
Cleanup was ongoing, and both directions of Highway 99 remained closed at Avenue 24 until around 4-5 p.m.
Drivers were informed of expected delays. Caltrans planned a detour route with signage to guide travelers around the impacted area.
Officer Gonzales, Public Information Officer (PIO) with the CHP Visalia Area office, spoke on camera at the scene and said visibility was very low due to dense fog, estimated at 100 to 200 feet. He also mentioned that multiple types of vehicles were involved in the incident, which included tractor-trailer combinations, sedans, and pickup trucks.
The CHP and the Tulare County FD had established a command center to coordinate the response to the incident, according to Gonzales.
