Los Angeles, CA: Detectives with Los Angeles Police Department Central Bureau Homicide are combing through security camera videos and speaking with witnesses who may have information to share to help find the suspect(s) involved in the shooting death of a man located on the ground at a Chevron gas station in Downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday night, May 4, 2022.

Lieutenant Ryan Rabbett, in charge of LAPD Central Bureau Homicide, said he cannot confirm at this point that there were multiple guns involved in the shooting.
“In other words, we don’t know if it’s a shoot-out at this point, but there have been several pieces of evidence as far as casings located within the parking lot,” said Rabbett who was interviewed at the scene by Key News Network.
The weapon located at the scene appears to be some type of assault rifle and detectives are still trying to verify make and model. At least a dozen rounds were fired, according to Rabbett.
As of right now, detectives do not know what led up to the shooting and it is not known if it is gang related. The incident does not appear to be an attempted robbery at the Chevron gas station, said Rabbett. The gas station attendant was at the station at the time of the shooting.
Rabbett said the suspect(s) is outstanding, but there is no description at this time until detectives view videos from security cameras from the area. The victim has been tentatively identified, but not confirmed at this time.
A vehicle located in the alley near the scene may or mat not be related to the victim or suspect, but detectives believe it is related to the incident, said Rabbett.
Anyone who witnessed this shooting is urged to call detectives at LAPD Central Bureau Homicide at (213) 486-8700.
