Male Shot Outside Grand Central Market in DTLA, Dies

Los Angeles, CA: Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a male outside the Grand Central Market at the intersection of Hill and 3rd Street in Downtown Los Angeles around 3:56 p.m. Saturday afternoon, May 14, 2022.

The Los Angeles Police Department briefly detained two individuals in association with the shooting investigation but released them shortly after. The individual who was shot was transported in critical condition to a local hospital, according to an LAPD officer on scene.

LAPD media relations confirmed Saturday evening that the wounded male later died at the hospital.

It was reported that there were multiple witnesses, and employees of the market hid underground directly after the shooting.

LAPD had set up a perimeter in the parking garage at Hill and 3rd to search for the gunman. The perimeter has since been lifted and the shooter is still at large.
