Lake View Terrace, Los Angeles, CA: Firefighting crews immediately went to work to battle a brush fire on Saturday, May 14, around 5:26 p.m. on the 12000 block North Lopez Road near the neighboring community of Lake View Terrace in the San Fernando Valley.
Los Angeles City Fire Department responded with ground and air resources along with Los Angeles County Fire Department and Angeles National Forest crews to attack the four acres of light grass and medium brush burning uphill with light wind near Lopez Canyon Landfill.
LAFD reported at 6:21 p.m., that the forward progress of the fire had been stopped. There were no evacuations or structure damage reported.
By nightfall, LAFD reported that 8.29 acres of vegetation had burned and the fire was 90% contained with no visible flames. LAFD paramedics assisted one male civilian who became suddenly ill near the fire line and was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
