Duarte, Los Angeles County, CA: A high-speed, two-vehicle traffic collision that was caught on tape by a security camera at the location, left one person trapped with their dog and two others injured Tuesday night, May 17, 2022. A vehicle is seen on tape speeding into oncoming traffic, colliding with another vehicle, then slamming into the side of a building.
Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the two-vehicle crash reported around 9:11 p.m. and located a vehicle into the side of a structure at Huntington Drive and Las Lomas Road in the city of Duarte.
At the scene, firefighters worked to extricate a victim with a dog from the vehicle that had cashed into the structure. LACoFD personnel took approximately 30 minutes to free the victim and then quickly transported him to a local hospital along with Care Ambulance. Unfortunately, the dog suffered fatal injuries from the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other victims at the scene were also transported by ambulance to a local hospital with reported minor injuries.
A witness at the scene did say the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed in oncoming traffic before the crash occurred.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office Temple Station is investigating the cause of the crash.
