Angeles National Forest, Los Angeles County, CA: A brush fire erupted around 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 30, near the Bouquet Canyon Reservoir. Angeles National Forest reported the wildfire started due to a vehicle fire at Bouquet Canyon Road near Spunky Canyon Road with a moderate rate of spread. At that time, the fire was at 25-30 acres in size.
Angeles National Forest said that the fire is burning moderately upslope from Martindale Truck Trail area. No injuries and no structures have burned at this time.
Forest staff, Los Angeles County Fire Department and other firefighters along with law enforcement staff are onsite, reported ANF. Aircraft from responding departments are on the scene conducting water drops and using flame retardant on the fire.
At around 4:45 p.m., ANF reported the fire was holding on a ridge at approximately 75 acres in size.
Just after 7:00 p.m., ANF reported via Twitter that the fire is likely closer to 50 acres at this time and currently holding in size. Air and ground crews continue to work on containing and extinguishing the fire.
