Suspect Arrested for Criminal Threats Regarding a Los Angeles Mass Shooting

Los Angeles, CA: The Los Angeles Police Department arrested an individual after receiving notification from a federal law enforcement agency that a suspect stated he wanted to do a mass shooting in the city of Los Angeles, while on a digital media chat, LAPD reported in a news release.

LAPD received notification of the threat on June 1, 2022. Law enforcement resources revealed the suspect’s address to be in the 77th Street area. Officers and detectives assigned to the 77th Street area conducted a follow-up to the 400 block of West Gage Avenue in South Los Angeles and arrested 20-year-old Victor Beltran at his residence, said LAPD.

LAPD said that Beltran admitted to making the statements and a search of his residence revealed there were no firearms in the location.

Beltran was booked for criminal threats and is currently housed at 77th Street Regional Jail facility with a bail of $50,000.00, said LAPD. This case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
