Studio City, Los Angeles, CA: A California Highway Patrol officer was shot at approximately 7:55 p.m. Monday, June 13, during a traffic stop at the intersection of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Landale Street in the Studio City neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley.

CHP stated in a news release that as the CHP West Valley area officer made contact with the driver during an enforcement stop, the driver exited the vehicle and a physical altercation ensued. During the altercation, the suspect produced a firearm and fired several rounds, striking the officer multiple times. The suspect then fled the scene.
A rescue ambulance rushed the officer to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. CHP reported the officer sustained serious injuries.
The Los Angeles Police Department worked with CHP to locate the suspect in the Van Nuys area as authorities found a vehicle that matched the suspect’s license plate.
LAPD located the building where the alleged suspect drove to in the Van Nuys neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley. Officers, along with SWAT, formed a perimeter in the area. Residents of the apartment building were evacuated around 1:30 a.m. A K-9 unit was seen at the location. It was determined that the suspect was not at the location after a search that ended around 2:00 a.m. at that apartment. The search for the suspect continued through the morning hours.
The suspect was taken into custody Tuesday morning, June 14, on Sherman Way and Gloria Avenue in Van Nuys at approximately 8:30 a.m., according to CHP.
CHP has identified the alleged suspect as Pejhmaun Iraj Khosroabadi. Charges against the suspect are pending.
The incident is still under investigation.
