Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department received numerous 911 calls regarding a pedestrian struck by vehicle shortly after 10:00 p.m., July 15, at the intersection of Beech and Avenue J.

Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics from station 33 responded to the scene and started administering CPR to the victim. Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The vehicle at the location involved in the collision was observed with serious front end damage not far from the victim, and a bicycle was seen approximately 36 feet away on the ground from the front of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle did not appear to be injured and remained on scene. All lanes of travel were shut down for one block for investigation of the collision.

Even though the 911 calls were for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, witnesses at the scene said the victim was riding a bicycle.

There have been numerous pedestrian deaths at this same location within the past 18 months. There is no additional information to report at this time.
