Sylmar, Los Angeles, CA: A vehicle slammed into the rear of a one-story home around 6:34 p.m. Sunday, July 17, on the 12200 block of Canyon Hill Avenue in the Sylmar neighborhood of Los Angeles within the San Fernando Valley.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said that the briefly-trapped unidentified driver was freed from the wreckage of their vehicle and was medically assessed by LAFD paramedics. All occupants of the home were accounted for, and none had sustained injury.

First arriving LAFD firefighters, including those specially trained and equipped in Urban Search and Rescue, remained at the scene to assure safety and stabilize the residence pending arrival of an inspector from the city’s Department of Building & Safety, stated LAFD Spokesperson Brian Humphrey.

The vehicle had crashed through a portion of a cinder block wall with adjoining fence before slamming into the home.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division on Monday, July 18, the driver was only identified as a female. She was temporarily placed in handcuffs at the scene due to her uncooperative behavior. The driver was not arrested.

The incident remains under investigation.
